We are in Nanaimo today and did a bit of scouting out. We learned that the parking around the Newcastle Island Ferry is free after 5 pm on Friday, and all day Saturday. For folks coming in on the Vancouver-Nanaimo ferry that should be excellent news, and we hope it helps to mitigate the ferry costs.

The little passenger ferry that goes across to Newcastle Island costs about 8 dollars per person, and we'll be ensuring that it runs all night long. There should be room for any small personal cargo. There will also be a golf cart on hand at the island end to help carry people who might have troubles walking.
