Welcome to our wedding website! While we plan stuff and get everything together we will be posting on here to let you all know the progress we are making.

So far we have picked a site in Nanaimo, on Newcastle Island. There is a pavilion there that used to be a dance hall around the turn of the century (1900s, not this century), and now can be rented out for special occasions. We have contacted with the manager there and arranged a loose menu for the catering. We're just starting to work out alcohol and stuff. Around the pavilion, the whole island is a provincial park with nature trails and camp sites. If the weather is nice, we hope guests will be able to camp out on Newcastle Island and explore and whatnot.

We have tried contacting some motels in the area but it looks as if everyone will have to arrange their own accommodations. We will, of course, be sending out a list of the hotels in the nearby area to make your choice a little easier. As things get closer to the date and as we explore Nanaimo a bit more, other options might come up.

This weekend we got some little candle lanterns and decorative rocks and sand and glass and seashells. I made one up to see what they'd look like as centerpieces... they look very beachy. We also have napkins already! We had a lot of fun picking them out online and designing them. We may even have the invitations ready soon. We aren't sure yet if we should send them out earlier because of how many of our friends and family are overseas in Japan and the Netherlands and so many other far-flung places.

We'll keep on updating this blog with news like this as well as information for guests and a forum for questions and comments. Eric's working pretty hard on getting it all set up.
